Reaching the Forgotten: Soccer, Hope, and the Gospel
Last week, Generation Now traveled to remote villages in Togo to host a soccer tournament for young people in communities that are often overlooked and forgotten.
For many of these young players, life comes with limited opportunities. Poverty is widespread, and access to education, resources, and the Gospel can be difficult. These villages are also places where Christ is least known and traditional Vodu beliefs remain present.
But Generation Now believes these young people matter. They should not be forgotten.
Through soccer, we were able to bring joy, build relationships, and create an opportunity to share the love and hope of Jesus Christ. What may look like simply a soccer tournament is, for us, a mission to reach the next generation.
Praise God, three players accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord! We also provided New Testament Bibles, Gospel tracts, food, and refreshments to the participants.
Soccer gave us a bridge into these communities, but our greater purpose is to point young people to Christ and remind them that they are seen, valued, and loved by God.
We will continue going to places where others may not go, reaching young people who are often forgotten, and sharing the Gospel wherever God opens the door.
